Lynette is a doctoral student in the Program in Mathematics Education (PRIME) at Michigan State University. She was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and earned a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Arizona in 2012. Her research interests broadly include understanding K-12 students’ algebraic reasoning, developing pre-service teachers’ professional noticing skills, and exploring students’ and teachers’ mathematical identities. Lynette is pursuing a Ph.D. in mathematics education to learn about topics and issues in the field, build research skills, and gain experiences to prepare for future work in teacher education and educational policy.
